BACK STORY

HOLLYWORD is a DIY passion project launched to fill a gap in the crowded podcast space. While there are plenty of great podcasts out there about writing and literature, HOLLYWORD is exclusively dedicated to exploring the stories of the story-tellers.

Each episode (chapter) is a researched and stylised work of non-fiction. While every reasonable attempt has been made at accuracy, exploring a person’s biography is a risky business, especially when it’s a famous story-teller. After all, who is better at blurring the lines between fact and fiction than a writer?

HOLLYWORD is created by Key Whiskey from her home in Sydney.

Many of the voices are performed by actor Jarryd Doyle, who assists in editing.

HOLLYWORD is recorded on GarageBand, using a Rode NTUSB plugged into a MacBook Air. Editing is done using a mix of GarageBand, DaVinci Resolve and Izotope RX. The recording process for HOLLYWORD is very unsophisticated. Whiskey sits on the floor of the quietest room in her apartment: the bathroom. For the sake of glamour, let’s pretend she’s curled in an armchair by a fire, surrounded by old books and nursing a highball…
